Tyrese - talks about his failed marriage

ESSENCE.COM: And just to switch gears a bit, you went through a rollercoaster ride of your own as a recent divorcee. What has been the most difficult love lesson you’ve had to learn?

TYRESE: My ex-wife and I were together for six or seven years before we married. I learned that sometimes marriage doesn’t work. When you get married you vow to share your life experiences with someone else. If you happen to be as busy as I am, your mind and spirit is all you have and if anything is taking away from that on any level then it might be time to re-evaluate that situation. At the end of the day, you have to love and value yourself and your happiness to walk away sometimes, even if you love that person.

ESSENCE.COM: Have you two remained amicable?

TYRESE: I don’t have anything negative to say about my daughter’s mom. She’s an amazing mother and I wouldn’t have married her if I didn’t think so. I know that I contributed to some of the conflicts that we had. I wish nothing but the best for her and I am focused on being a responsible father to our beautiful daughter.

ESSENCE.COM: Well, your baby girl will always have fond memories of you because you’ve been immortalized on the big screen and causing “Mayhem” in the comic book world.

TYRESE: Yes, my comic book “Mayhem” has already pre-sold 10,000 copies already in one story and it has the comic book world going crazy because if a comic sells 15,000 worldwide that’s consider huge. The energy and momentum is crazy among comic enthusiasts

Rapper Lil Wayne has appeared in an Arizona court on drug possession and weapons charges.
Lil Wayne, whose real name is Dwayne Carter, was ordered by a judge to attend Tuesday morning's pretrial hearing.
His attorney says he told the Yuma County Superior Court judge that the U.S. Border Patrol hasn't turned over records the defense requested months ago. The judge set another court date for Aug. 11.
Carter was arrested at a U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint on Interstate 8 east of Yuma in January 2008 after authorities said they found cocaine, Ecstasy and a handgun on his tour bus.
He faces one count each of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of dangerous drugs and weapons misconduct.

Carter previously pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Chris Brown pleads guilty

Chris Brown has pleaded guilty to beating his former girlfriend Rihanna. At Los Angeles Superior Court, Brown admitted to one count of felony assault. Under the terms of plea bargain agreed with prosecutors, Brown is expected to serve five years' probation and six months community service. He will be formally sentenced on August 5. According to an affidavit filed by an LA police detective, the altercation took place in a car when Rihanna checked Brown's mobile phone and found a text message from another woman. Detective De Shon Andrews wrote that Brown attempted to push Rihanna out of the vehicle before punching her repeatedly. He also bit her ear, the affidavit states. He then allegedly threatened to kill her when she pretended to phone her assistant to get police help. According to the detective, the alleged assault left Rihanna with a mouthful of blood. Brown is also alleged to have tried to choke Rihanna. In court in LA, Rihanna had been on standby to give evidence. Instead, after the guilty plea was entered, the singer heard details of a "stay away" order imposed by judge Patricia Schnegg.

The talk show host has paid more than $750,000 (£500,000) to take 100-plus employees and their families on a ten-day holiday. The ship left Chicago, Illinois on Saturday (20Jun09) and will stop at destinations including Spain, Italy, Turkey, Greece and Malta. Winfrey will join her staff on the cruise and will cover the cost of their transportation, food, drinks and activities at port stops. The trip comes four years after Winfrey arranged an all-expenses-paid outing to Hawaii for her workers.

After living under a high-powered microscope for the past four months, pop
princess Rihanna will finally face the music and her estranged beau and alleged
abuser Chris Brown to testify during a pretrial hearing at Los Angeles Superior
Court today. Brown's lawyer requested a delay but was denied by the California
Supreme Court.
There have been reports that the 21-year-old Barbadian beauty
was reluctant to take the stand against the 20-year-old R&B crooner who
faces two felony charges of assault, but her attorney Donald Etra sets the
record straight.
"No, she always understood from the very beginning that she
would testify if she were called to do so," Etra tells ESSENCE.com in an
exclusive interview. "So there was never any apprehension on her part
whatsoever."
Although the "Umberlla" singer has not spoken publicly about the
alleged physical altercation in Los Angeles, she appears to have weathered the
hailstorm of media by staying on the scene and putting her best fashionable foot
forward.
"I think the fact that she has returned to her normal life and
career is extremely brave," says Etra. "She deserves a tremendous amount of
credit and respect for that because it's not easy."
The pretrial hearing
marks the second time that the estranged couple has shared the same public space
after their alleged lovers-quarrel-gone-awry on February 8, including the recent
appearance during Game 4 of the NBA Finals in Orlando, Florida, although neither
acknowledged one another before sneaking off to two different private
lounges.
Despite the media frenzy surrounding the case and Chris Brown's
attorney, Mark Geragos, trying to seize LAPD police records to uncover who
leaked the photo of a bruised and battered Rihanna, Etra has not allowed the
intrusiveness to deflect his strategy.
"Hollywood is used to the media, and I
personally respect the media," Etra shares. "My only strategy is what it has
always been, and that is to advise my client to tell the truth."

Burglars target Triple Olympic record holder Jamaican athlete Usain Bolt, making off with electronics valued at more than $100,000.

Deputy Superintendent Michael Phipps of the St Andrew Central police said that the Olympic champion's brother, Sadeke Bolt, who lives at the premises as well, made a burglary report to the station after the incident.

Chris Brown request denied

The California Supreme Court denied a request to delay an upcoming hearing in the case of the Chris Brown, who is accused of assaulting ex-girlfriend Rihanna.
Despite the singer's lawyer seeking a delay, on Wednesday, the court posted the decision to keep the hearing as scheduled. It is set for Monday in downtown L.A.

Brown's attorney Mark Geragos sought a delay because he is still gathering information about a police probe into a photo of a bruised and beaten Rihanna that was taken by detectives after the alleged assault and later leaked online.
A lower court judge had denied Geragos' request and said it was too soon to seek information about the leak.

At the hearing, in which Brown is expected to appear, evidence will be presented against him. According to Rihanna's attorney, if requested, she will also appear on Monday to testify.
Brown has pleaded not guilty in the case. He faces up to four years in prison if convicted.

A Belgian girl is taking a tattoo artist to court after he left her with 56 stars on her face instead of the three she says she asked for.
Kimberley Vlaeminck, 18, claims she fell asleep in the tattooist's studio and awoke to find half her face covered in the black stars.
She said: "I closed my eyes and didn't feel any pain. I fell asleep and was woken up from the pain on my nose, when he was busy applying a big star. And so I woke up with 56 stars."

The moral of this story is - Never fall asleep when getting tattooed lol

First, it was the creation of the Jane Pitt Pediatric Cancer Center, named after Brad's mother, in his hometown of Springfield, Mo. And Wednesday, in support of Jolie's eight-year relationship with the UN Refugee Agency, the Jolie-Pitt Foundation gave $1 million to help displaced people in Pakistan, a country she has visited three times. The head of the agency, António Guterres, thanked the foundation for its assistance, calling Pakistan's plight "the most challenging humanitarian crisis of the past decade," as more than 2 million people are currently displaced in the country.Jolie will talk about her work in aiding refugees Thursday when she and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton celebrate World Refugee Day in Washington D.C. Having just finished a four-month shoot for the thriller Salt, Jolie will be a stay-at-home mom as her family moves to Los Angeles while Pitt films Moneyball.

I feel really sorry for this woman she's heavily pregnant, she lost her husband and now she's broke , talk about rainy dayz!

TMZ reports:

Kelis says from 11/08 to 4/09, her average monthly income was $21,616. Hardly
poor, but way less than what she and Nas were pulling in while she was with
him.
Kelis, who is ready to give birth, has some pretty hefty expenses —
$80,831 a month … way more than she says she makes.
Kelis says she hasn’t
toured in a year and most of her income comes from her concerts.
Kelis says
she spends $14,861 on her mortgage. Her nanny costs $3,500 a month. She spends
$15,000 a month on entertainment, gifts and vacations — not too shabby. And she
says it cost $175 to have the “baby rug dry cleaned.”
So Ke Ke hasn’t made
over $20k in a month, but needs $80k for her mortgage and nanny and rug cleaning
for her unborn baby. Can’t wait to see how the judge rules on this one….
