A good deed: Stars Stand Up to Cancer

Many of Hollywood's top stars – including Marcia Cross, Kirsten Dunst, Sally Field, Mandy Moore and Fran Drescher – are standing up for a good cause: The fight against cancer. The women have been named as celebrity ambassadors by the Entertainment Industry Foundation, a group of media, entertainment and philanthropic leaders whose lives have been affected by cancer in significant ways. Drescher, who is a uterine cancer survivor, wrote about her battle with the disease in her book, Cancer Schmancer. Cross has also been touched by the disease: Her husband, Tom Mahoney, is currently undergoing treatment for cancer. The group's Stand Up to Cancer initiative is aimed at raising funds to accelerate cancer research and expedite therapies to patients. On Wednesday, SU2C and its celebrity supporters announced five research "Dream Teams," which have been selected to receive $73.6 million in three-year grants. Watch Stand Up to Cancer's powerful PSA featuring Sidney Poitier, Tobey Maguire, Keanu Reeves, Jodi Foster, Christina Ricci, Susan Sarandon, Tommy Lee Jones, Morgan Freeman, and more.
